Ultimate Blog Challenge Kickoff!

One of my major goals during my first year on the blogosphere is to meet new people and feel like I’m part of the “blogging community” in a general sense – and actually, while connecting with fellow food bloggers is generally “easier,” I’m just as happy to meet people outside of my niche.

I’ve also been in blogging slump for the past couple of weeks – ever since I was bedridden over a case of food poisoning for a few days. Something about falling behind really kept me from being motivated.

But I believe in what I’m doing. Perhaps “believe” is a bit of a strong word. But I do love it. I love it so much I’ve got two notebooks dedicated to ideas and recipe testing. I have digital folders of various food photography filling up my hard drive space (thank goodness for modern technology and external hard drives), I have been known to spend about 8 hours a day testing, setting up my shots, scribbling in my notebooks, learning HTML and CSS, commenting on new blogs, stumbling them, liking them, tweeting, and trying to find ways to collaborate with online magazines and websites. But honestly, if I was just sitting there in my own little online bubble, I think I’d give up because at that rate, I’d just happily cook for my family.

I was an avid scrapbooker back in the day. I think blogging brings me back to that.

Anyway, keeping in line with this major goal of putting myself (and my blog) out there and meeting new bloggers, I’m joining the 30 day blogging challenge over at the Ultimate Blog Challenge.

My goals?

  1. Mingle, mingle, mingle.
  2. Be more active on social media (ie- schedule tweets and FB content…I’m pretty good at pinning and stumbling regularly)
  3. Increase my social media following (FYI…like or follow me on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, or Google Plus, send me a message, and I’ll return the favor!)
  4. Post a food-related or blogging related post every day for the next 30 days! (Yikes guys! The wheels are already in motion and I’ve got quite a few ideas!)

So, if you are a blogger and are up for a good old-fashioned (or new-age) blogging challenge, what are you waiting for?! Head on over to The Ultimate Blog Challenge and sign up (for free) to motivate yourself to be more active in the blogosphere for the next month! Let me know if you do so I can visit your blog!

Have you ever participated in a blogging challenge? What did you take away from the experience?
